Reykjavik University (http://www.ru.is/) is looking to fill one or more positions in biomedical engineering. Candidates with research experience in neural engineering or bioinformatics are strongly encouraged to apply.
 

Currently the School of Science and Engineering is in a start-up phase with large plans for expansion including a new university building opening in the fall of 2009 and a dedicated research building a year later.  Our mission is to become an internationally recognized  research university and the new faculty member can significantly influence how this mission unfolds. The successful candidate is expected to build a research program as well as teach and advise undergraduate and graduate students. The position offers participation in the shaping of a new and emerging discipline within a fast growing entrepreneurial university.
 

We are looking for candidates with ambitions to conduct outstanding research of high international standard.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering or related fields and be established members of the international research community. Demonstrated teaching excellence is also appreciated.
 

Position levels can range from assistant professor to full professor, depending on the qualifications of the applicant. Salary level is negotiable and relocation assistance is offered. The position is available immediately but starting date is negotiable. All applications will be considered. We may fill more than one position, depending on the number of qualified applicants.

Reykjavik University was established in 2005 when the former Reykjavik University merged with the Technical University of Iceland. Currently the university consists of five academic schools: School of Law, School of Business, School of Health and Education, School of Computer Science and the School of Science and Engineering. Reykjavik University is a community of over 3000 students and about 500 full time and part time employees. About half of all instructors at RU are active in Icelandic industry, and about 10% come from overseas.

Academic programs at Reykjavik University are innovative, based on internationally recognized models, and continually under review and improvement. Today, the University offers about 700 courses a year, over 500 at the undergraduate level and 160 at the masters level, and thus seeks to meet the needs of students and industry in Iceland and abroad.
